Phu Quoc, voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, received 5.7 million tourists in the first six months this year, up 30% year-on-year and meeting 68% of this year’s target.
Vietnam’s largest island off the southern province of An Giang received 1.32 million foreign tourists during the period, up 50% year-on-year, according to a report from the province’s Department of Tourism.
Bui Quoc Thai, director of the provincial Department of Tourism, said the tourism sector posted strong results in the first half of the year, driven by the implementation of tourism projects and policies as well as steady progress in international cooperation, Vietnam News Agency reported.
An Giang has rolled out a range of technology-based tourism solutions, including tourism websites featuring virtual reality content, a mobile app for visitors, AI-enabled surveillance and access-control systems at attractions, AI-powered audio guides, and digital tourism publications.

At the same time, Phu Quoc’s preparations for APEC 2027 are accelerating.
Infrastructure upgrades are underway to improve connectivity to major destinations, while accommodation providers are ramping up investments to expand capacity.
Phu Quoc targets 8.5 million tourists this year, including 2 million foreigners.
